It's 2036, and nine military prisoners attempt to avoid execution by participating in a scheme concocted by megalomaniac Colonel Flemming (Troy Donahue). Headed by gung-ho Major Agatha Doyle (Terry Farrell), the convict squadron must secure a guarded enemy fuel depot. Because Doyle lost her entire platoon on her last assignment, she doesn't get much cooperation from her crew, who include rebellious Lt. Aldrich (Parker Stevenson), demolitions expert Ryan (Rick Springfield), and computer hacker Siegal (Corey Feldman). Upon reaching their destination, the ragged band discovers a ghost depot; their only opposition, it turns out, is a pile of cadavers. When someone — or some thing &#151 starts picking them off, Doyle requests reinforcements that never arrive; their mission, after all, has been pre-destined to fail. In the meantime, it's up to Aldrich to temper Doyle's military mind-set while figuring out what's causing the slaughter. As the casualties in this seek-and-destroy sci-fi adventure mount, viewers get to choose from the same three possible culprits they're always offered: a super-smart Alien; a man-made bio-plague; or a genetically altered uber-soldier. While the director does a yeoman-like job of inducing the heebie-jeebies through shock cuts, etc., no amount of cinematic dexterity can disguise the obviousness of this ALIEN knock-off's lethal gameplan, or the damage caused by atrocious acting. In particular, Farrell shouts like a religious fanatic who's just discovered the gift of speaking in tongues.
