Wiener plays a woman whose secure and rather boring affair with an artist is sidetracked when she becomes attracted to suave art dealer Terzieff. Her ardor cools when she discovers Terzieff's obsession with sadomasochistic photography--a hobby he indulges because of a problem he had with

his mother, which also partly accounts for his impotence. Weiner and Terzieff eventually do have a fling, but the affair turns ugly, and Weiner attempts suicide. A far cry from some of Clouzot's earlier work. (In French; English subtitles.)
