At a hotel wedding reception, Fung Chi Ching (Angelica Lee) crosses paths with organ thief Suen Ling (Karena Lam), who got into her macabre line of work to pay for her mother's costly medical treatments, warns her to mind her own business.

To demonstrate Chi Ching’s vulnerability, Ling breaks into her house and removes a tooth while she sleeps. The irony is that Chi Ching is facing renal failure and needs a kidney; thrown together by fate, the two desperate women form a bond. They also discover that they have something — or rather, someone — in common. Ling has been sleeping with Chi Ching’s fiancee, Doctor Tsui Wai-man (Andy Hui); Chi Ching is deeply stung by her new acquaintance’s betrayal, though she knows Wai-Man is unfaithful because she's too ill to satisfy his raging libido. She even wonders whether he might be Ling’s accomplice, but is subsequently kidnapped by Ling’s real partner in crime, Keung

(Raymond Wong), who wants to take her one good kidney. Ling intervenes, and Keung first questions her loyalty then offers to become a paying customer. It’s hard to tell who's calling the shots as Ling continues to play God on her own terms.

Lo both delivers the genre jolts and foregrounds the themes of Susan Chan's screenplay, which ponders medical ethics and explores the psychology of the chronically ill.
