Wandering the streets, a disfigured woman named Kyra (Amy Weber) is hospitalized after being struck by a car. However, not all her injuries are the result of this accident. Through flashbacks, we watch a fledgling documentarian, inspired by the MTV series "Real People," filming five young adults who live together: Gary (John Fairlie), Tom (Donny Terranova), Tina (Promise Lamarco), Erica (Nicole Pelerine), and Kyra, a shy art student. Initially, these housebound subjects, relative strangers, entertain themselves by viewing struggling actress Erica's "Slaughterhouse Factor" video. Soon, however, they're starring in their own slasher flick. First, Tina gets sliced and diced by boobytraps in the kitchen. When the TV plays footage of the documentarian bleeding to death, the captives scramble for exits that don't exist; the windows and doors have been sealed. After Gary takes an acid shower, the terrified survivors begin pointing fingers at each other. But why is Kyra the only one to see Kolobos, a mythical Greek villain fond of mutilation? Although it's not impossible to guess what's behind the deadly cinema verite, the screenplay manages to distract viewers from reaching their conclusions too quickly. Cinematically, however, the film never lives up to the promise of a superb opening sequence, which traces Kyra's p.o.v through the darkened city streets. As the maniac captures images of death for what amounts to a home snuff movie, viewers may sicken at the excessively graphic sights and sounds of torture. If you appreciate truly unnerving horror films with a flair for expressing dementia, skip this and watch Lodge Kerrigan's CLEAN SHAVEN instead
