This loopy, made-for-TV picture about the college careers of a group of sexy-yet-humanitarian students resembles a failed prime time soap opera pilot, complete with stalking, kidnapping, mindless hedonism and tanned torsos. Pampered rich-kid Randy (Casper Van Dien) neglects his studies and gets caught cheating, so the Dean (Sally Kellerman) insists he hire financially strapped Serena as his tutor. While Serena frets about losing her scholarship, her roommate, former model Stacey (Jacqueline Collen), receives menacing phone calls from her former husband and manager Daniel St. Germaine (Jack Scalia), whom she abandoned for higher learning. In the same high-rise where Stacy and Serena live, a closet case/psych major named Joe moves in with romantically challenged oceanography student Polly. Jake (Gianni Russo), the building's den father/landlord, also owns a faltering ocean-side restaurant. To drum up business for his eatery, Jake tries persuading ex-celebrity Stacy to organize a volleyball team, which could hold matches in his environs. While Polly tries to convince Joe to proclaim his homosexuality, Serena tries to improve Randy's character and Stacey gets kidnapped by her psychotic ex-husband. If you enjoy the sight of athletic bodies romping in the sun and surf, this papier-mache soap opera may provide some mindless entertainment. But be warned: The writing is the equivalent of fast food and acting the acting amounts to little more than runway posing. Though Denise Richards is featured prominently on the video box, her role is little more than a cameo.
