Moore plays a classically trained teenage musician who switches to jazzier tunes to gain acceptance at his new high school. Overwhelmed with grief at the death of his aviator father in WW II, he organizes a show for local servicemen, winning the heart of Thayer. In the end Moore leads his

school band to victory in a nationwide competition. Though it has its light moments, the film is too serious for its own good. Moore gives a mildly appealing performance as he graduates to serious teenage movies after achieving fame as a child star. This film is typical of most made to support the

war effort. Screenwriter Wallace would later gain prominence as a novelist. The songs included "The Bell Song" (from "Lamke," Leo Delibes--sung by Gerra Young), "We're Just in Between."
