Savalas is an American ex-WW II POW who returns to Germany 30 years after the war. He teams up with Mason, the former commander of his prison camp. Together they spring a Nazi war criminal (Lukschy) from jail. He's the only one left who knows where a secret wartime cache of gold is

hidden. The trio go through a series of mishaps in their quest for the loot. It's an entirely unbelievable film but with a good sense of breakneck silly fun and a dash of suspense thrown in for good measure. Savalas gets his first top-billing in the movies here, probably on the basis of his

popular "Kojak" television series of the time.
