Based on an actual event, IN THE MOUTH OF THE WOLF focuses on a small squadron of soldiers on patrol in an Indian village in the Peruvian Andes. Their mission is to flush out communist guerrillas who are committing acts of terrorism in the vicinity. Among the soldiers is Vega, whose head

is filled with dreams of the glory he can achieve as a soldier. When the squadron's rather compassinate commander is killed, the strict Bueno takes command, and Vega is appalled when Bueno's tactics become increasingly more brutal as he comes to believe the local peasants are in league with the

terrorists. The film forcefully conveys the plight of the peasants, showing them as unwilling pawns in a battle in which they are basically not interested. (In Spanish; English subtitles.)
