Produced for the gay cable channel here!, this formulaic, low-budget action picture features Mariel Hemingway as Agent Delaney, head of security for Vice President Walker (David Keith), with whom she served in the first Iraq war. A routine trip on Air Force 2 takes a dramatic turn when the plane, also carrying journalist Murphy (Syd Jackson) and openly lesbian press secretary Sharon (Jill Bennett), encounters bad weather and crashes on remote jungle island that happens to be home to a guerilla training camp. Sociopathic American mercenary Armstrong (David Millbern), recognizes a fortuitous opportunity to extort money from the U.S. government, but isn't counting on Delaney's determination to keep her vice president safe. Complicating matters is Delaney's growing attraction to Sharon, the resolution of which is the only thing that distinguishes this film from a direct-to-video Jean-Claude Van Damme or Steven Seagal picture. Hemingway's history as a gay icon seems to progress in decade-long intervals, beginning with her performance as an Olympic-bound track star in 1982's PERSONAL BEST and continuing with her part in a groundbreaking 1994 episode of TV's Roseanne, in which she and Roseanne Barr shared a same-sex kiss; this film should discharge her responsibilities for another decade.
