Marty Feldman's talents are pathetically wasted (as are those of everyone else in this picture) in the role of Brother Ambrose, a naive monk who tries to raise money for his monastery and ends up on Hollywood Boulevard. In robe and sandals, Ambrose solicits funds from Amageddon T. Thunderbird (Andy Kaufman), a revolting twit of a TV evangelist who makes Ambrose a partner in his Church of Divine Profit. Richard Pryor is soberingly unfunny as the target of Ambrose's prayers for assistance. As a director, Feldman proves he has a special--though not especially unique--talent for bringing together a group of normally funny actors and making them look like bumbling idiots.
