Are the films of queer-core auteur Bruce LaBruce -- NO SKIN OFF MY ASS, SUPER 8 1/2 and the apocryphal DOUBLE MINT F*** -- offensive pornography, pretentious postmodernism or hilariously depraved hybrids of the two? Depends on your sense of humor. Though LaBruce's

latest no-budget epic won't change any minds, its audacity and intelligence are undeniable. The aesthetic is strictly porno, and despite allusions to countless Hollywood classics -- everything from SUNSET BOULEVARD to JURASSIC PARK gets tossed into the mix -- the flimsy plot is an unabashed homage

to the cheesy sleaze of yesteryear. Jurgen Anger (played by LaBruce himself, who flaunts his influences shamelessly), arrives in Hollywood to "research" the world of male prostitution. He's immediately smitten by potential research assistant Monty Ward (Madonna boy-toy Tony Ward), a fetching young

hustler and part-time porn "fluffer" (if you have to ask...). As he follows Monty on his daily rounds, we get the grand tour of L.A.'s seamy sex industry, where lives are cheap and nearly everything's for sale. Though the film revels in the graphic depiction of every kinky fetish imaginable,

LaBruce never loses sight of the most crucial act of all: the exchange of cold, hard cash.
