Hold 'em Yale Reviews

Ticket scalpers Sunshine Joe (William Frawley), Liverlips (Andy Devine), Sam the Gonoph (Warren Hymer), and Bennie South Street (George E. Stone) find themselves responsible for pretty Clarice Van Cleve (Patricia Ellis) when their playboy buddy (Cesar Romero) drops her. What's more, her wealthy father charges them with putting an end to her wild ways and finding a nice boy for her to marry. Hector Wilmot (Buster Crabbe), who rides the bench for the Yale football team, appears to fit the bill, and the fellas convince the Eli coach to let him play against Harvard, leading to the usual last-minute heroics and plenty of romance. HOLD 'EM YALE's weak plot is more than compensated for by great dialog, adapted from a Damon Runyon story by Paul Gerard Smith and Eddie Welch.
