When will people learn? There's no percentage in mocking cliches that have already degenerated into self-parody. Of course, DANGEROUS MINDS was a hit -- it even spawned a TV series -- so perhaps we're overestimating the sophistication of movie

audiences. This tired compendium of dedicated teacher and troubled students conventions sends suburban schmuck Richard Clark (Jon Lovitz) into inner-city Marion Barry High, where he wins over his classroom full of killers and morons with his devotion to teaching and his good-natured belief that

there are no bad kids. Louise Fletcher is a walking sight gag as the evil principal, but just about every other gag falls flat and lies there, wheezing.
