A Feydeau-type bedroom farce based on an Avery Hopwood play, HER WEDDING NIGHT features the "It" girl, Clara Bow, near the end of her career before she married cowboy star Rex Bell, who went on to become lieutenant-governor of Nevada. She was only 25 when she made this, had already been in

pictures since 1922, and had a number of mental problems just prior to this picture's release. Forbes is a popular songwriter (not unlike Irving Berlin) who convinces his pal, Gallagher, to masquerade as Forbes in order to get away from all of his fans. Forbes goes to the French Riviera where he

mistakenly marries Bow, thinking that they are renting separate rooms at the hotel for the night. The trouble arises because neither speaks Italian, and they think that the magistrate is the hotel clerk. Charlie Ruggles is Forbes' dimwitted pal and steals what there is to steal of the movie with

his comic timing. The last several minutes have the usual bedroom doors opening and closing with the speed that has come to be the trademark of plays like Hopwood's. It probably worked better on the stage because it hardly worked here at all.
