Heartbeeps Reviews

A box-office flop, HEARTBEEPS deserved a much better fate. Likable and sentimental, it stars Andy Kaufman and Bernadette Peters as two household robots who, in the year 1995, fall in love and set out on their own. Literally putting together a family, they assemble a smaller robot "child" out of spare parts and even acquire a robot "uncle," a discarded comedian android. Directed by Allan Arkush (ROCK `N' ROLL HIGH SCHOOL; GET CRAZY), HEARTBEEPS has some major problems (John Williams' overbearing score among them) but also some moments of indisputable charm. Nominated by the Academy for Best Make-up.
