This all-black musical comedy has Daniels as an employee of the Brass Rail, a nightclub owned by "Second Rate Kate." One night, Daniels loses several hundred dollars in club receipts to a hold-up man and decides to get Mayhand, another club employee, to help him regain the cash. The pair

focus their efforts on a young Texan, Greene, who is new in town and whom they mistake for a millionaire. Greene is actually an aspiring jazz musician who is dirt poor. He gets himself drunk at the club and falls in love with Carr, a singer who can't stand musicians. In the meantime, the money is

recovered by Daniels and Mayhand when they spot a drunk carrying a suspicious bag. Greene wakes up in the deserted club and is inspired to play the piano. When Kate hears him she offers him a job. Songs include: "Handle with Care," "Too Little Too Late" and "Sad Dreams and Bitter Teardrops."
