Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers

The scariest thing about it is the corpse of Donald Pleasance, shambling across the screen in what will indisputably be his last performance as the beleaguered Dr. Loomis -- you remember, the man who has known that masked slasher Michael Myers is "pure evil" since 1978. Pleasance was long dead before this film ever made it into theaters, and here he looks on his last legs. Everything else is by the book: spooky music, kids in costume, stalk-and-slash hijinks that just don't have the punch they had 17 years ago, when John Carpenter first unleashed his unstoppable bogeyman on the world. In addition, the film is so dark -- literally -- it's often hard to see what's going on. Heaven help video viewers!
