Calling this movie the "Final Chapter" in no way obligates Paramount Studios to dismantle their gorey money-making machine just yet. The first three mindless exercises in graphic bloodletting grossed more than $42 million, with very little money spent on production. Considering that all

these films really require is a supply of teenagers willing to disrobe for some on-screen hanky-panky and to submit themselves to the special-effects crew (who devise variations on the slice-'em-up theme), no wonder the overhead is low. The studio certainly needn't hire any brilliant writers; they

have only to repeat the plot of the first film in every sequel. This time out, as if it mattered, the crazed Jason once again stomps through the woods of a lonely summer camp, carving up all the nubile young camp counselors. As usual, the open ending prepares blood-lustful viewers for another

sequel: FRIDAY THE 13TH, PART V--A NEW BEGINNING, a rather laughable title considering that the previous four films came out of a duplicating machine.

TV Premiere Dates

Because it's never too early to plan Thursday night... two months from now.
