A man driven to distraction by remorse and writer's block searches for a way through his neuroses in this independent drama from director Sam Neave. Seth Farber (Darrill Rosen) is an author who earned a sudden literary celebrity with his first book, a collection of short stories. In the wake of its success, Seth signed a deal to write a novel, but after several years he's still struggling with the larger work and is facing increasing pressure from his publishers to complete the project. Seth was born and raised in South Africa, but hasn't been home in years until recently, when he went back for the funeral of his wife, who committed suicide. Seth returns to Manhattan and finds himself wrestling both with his muse and the feeling that he was somehow responsible for his wife's decision to take her own life. As Seth feels stretched to the breaking point, he meets Monica (Marjan Neshat), a woman who wants to help reel him back in. First Person Singular received its world premiere at the 2009 Cinequest Film Festival.
