Encounter with the Unknown Reviews

Rod Serling, of TV's "The Twilight Zone," steps in to do some of the narration in this cheaply made (as evidenced by the presence of actors Gene Ross and Rosie Holotik, of DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT) anthology of supernatural tales--all supposedly true. The first story begins in a graveyard and follows three teenagers who are cursed, the second is about a mysterious hole in a farmer's field that contains a monster, and the third depicts a man who meets a girl who turns out to be a ghost on a bridge. The film was shot silent, with the dialog entirely postdubbed. Director Harry Thomason pads out each segment with interminable flashbacks of footage he's already used. This was a pretty pathetic end to the soon-to-be-deceased Serling's career.
