Meant no doubt to be a tear-jerker, CITY GIRL does nothing more than reiterate the cliche--crime does not pay. A dense waitress, who hopes her way is paved with diamonds and furs when she takes up with a gangster, dumps her boy friend, a district attorney. The gangster's ploy, in turn, is to use her to get information out of the lawman. Before it is over, city girl sacrifices her life for the DA she truly loves.
