Tedious mystery concerning young heiress Dorothea Capper (Matthews) who is left a small fortune by her recently-deceased uncle. Other, closer, relatives are outraged that their miserly relation would dump such a load of cash on a dance-hall girl, and they try to grab a piece of the estate for themselves. A devious bunch, at first they try friendly persuasion and when that fails their thoughts turn to murder. CID man William Gordon (Stuart) takes the case, saves the girl's life more than once, and manages to win her affections in the process. While fending off greedy relatives Capper finds time to deliver a couple of musical numbers. An undistinguished film for the time, it is a greater mystery why it has turned up on videotape.
