Buck Rogers in the 25th Century Reviews

Buck Rogers was 50 years old when this film was made. You'd think he would know better by that age. This began as a telefilm, but someone at Universal must have thought it had enough merit to be able to make it in the theaters. Lots of money was lavished on the production, which packs 89 minutes with fade-in to fade-out movement. But don't confuse movement with action. On the little screen, the eye is not discerning enough to see the obvious miniatures and shoddy special effects. It's all magnified by the big screen, as are the comic-strip lines put into the mouths of the wooden actors. This movie has pretensions to mediocrity, a goal far too high for it to reach.
