Depressing, confusing film noir shows hot-headed Tierney committing a double murder in a fit of jealousy. The bodies are discovered by Trevor, who doesn't report them because she is leaving town. The two meet on a train bound for San Francisco and are attracted to each other. Visiting her mansion later, he learns she is engaged to be married, so he turns his attentions to her more available sister, Long. They get married, and then a detective turns up investigating the two murders. He is bought off by Cook, Tierney's friend, who Tierney then kills because he suspects him of having an affair with Trevor, whom he is still seeing on the side. Trevor convinces Tierney to shoot her sister, but he is stopped by the arrival of police. When he learns that Trevor sent for the cops, he shoots her, and is gunned down by police.
