A cavalry officer with nothing but contempt for American Indians is tasked with tracking renegade Apaches. He falls for a schoolteacher who is half American Indian thus inciting him to reconsider his predisposition.

His change of heart is frustrated by the intolerant gold-seeking white miners who start a war with the Apaches. Refreshing for its portrayal of Indians as a sympathetic group.
