To invigorate the re-election campaign of her illustrious client, President Fallbrook (John Beck), his press secretary engineers a faked kidnapping. With expert mercenaries like the Leader (Bryan Genesse) and the Alternate (Eric Roberts) working in conjunction, the snatching of the president at a $10,000 a plate fund-raising dinner almost goes off without a hitch. Unfortunately, the Leader kills several secret service agents and really does kidnap President Fallbrook! From the outside, FBI specialist Jack Briggs (Michael Madsen) coordinates a plan to save the president, rescue hostages &#151 including many terrified dignitaries &#151 threatened with a building explosion, and prevent the Leader from collecting a multi-million dollar ransom. From inside the imperiled high-rise, the Alternate works to outsmart and out-macho the treacherous Leader. The direct-to-video marketplace has rediscovered a subgenre: Edifice Wrecks. Ever since nasty terrorists took over that building in DIE HARD, skyscrapers have been increasingly imperiled, most recently in GEN-X COPS and DIPLOMATIC SIEGE. Fortunately, deftly staged fisticuffs and snarled insults deflect attention from an overripe plotline that's bursting with improbabilities. To be sure, Beltway publicists and press secretaries have come up with extraordinary schemes to glorify their clients, but stealing the head-of-state seems ludicrous, even for a mindless action pic. After repetitive sneak attacks fail to accomplish anything except try your patience, you'll long for President Fallbrook to behave like Harrison Ford in AIR FORCE ONE and save the day himself.
