When several murders occur at the Lost Caverns Hotel, bellhop Lou is suspected, especially after his pal, house detective Bud, tries to help him but casts more suspicion upon him. Karloff, who plays a mystic, attempts to hypnotize Lou and compel him to sign a bogus confession, but Lou's natural stupidity prevents success, one of the best scenes in the film. Police Inspector Wellman uses the bewildered bellhop to bait the real killer. While Karloff is properly menacing, there are scant fews laughs in this tired effort.
