A big-time production and an expensive set couldn't save this directionless musical. Hepburn and Clark are writers who are working on an operetta, looking for a captivating twist to win some notice. They decide on doing a story about a Southern gentleman in the 1850s who has something

hidden in his past. While the two search for the missing piece, the man's only living relative surfaces and tries to block the production. Finally, she relents and even lets them use her stately Louisiana home for the operetta, which eventually ends up on Broadway. Songs done in a big way to hide

the weak script are: "It All Could Have Happened Before," "What I Like About You," "The Country Ain't the Country Anymore" and "I Love to Remember" (Marla Shelton, Louis Herscher). Also included is "Bayou Calls."
