Impotence and frigidity in a clinical setting. This film was originally released in 1950, but rereleased in 1961 with a tacked-on prolog, making it a film-within-a-film. In the prolog, Neher and Fisher confer in a group-therapy setting with physician Elliott. Neher is unable to relate to

her husband sexually; Fisher's husband is unable to relate to her in the same way. Demonstrating therapy by analogy, Elliott recounts the case history (segue into the 1950 release) of the frigid Field, who broke the bond of matrimony immediately after her elopement with Clarke. Following a suicide

attempt, Field is seen by psychiatrist Hadley, who spots the natural culprit, her domineering mom. Presumably, this fable helps the prolog pair to resolve their problems.
