How does the cast make it through the long hours on set?

"The long hours are grueling, but only once have we had to resort to cannibalism," Kristoffer Polaha says. "Usually, in the last hour, right before desperation sets in, Shiri Appleby will break out her ukulele and get us singing rounds of 'Row, Row, Row Your Boat.'"

Is the cast actually like a family on set?

"We really are. In fact, Shiri is telling me what to write right now, as I type ... seriously, Shiri? I got this," Polaha says. Appleby in response: "No, he needs my help. Kris, don't try to be cool for TVGuide. Yes, you do [need my help]."

Is it difficult shooting in Vancouver?

"I don't miss being in Hollywood," Appleby says. "I miss being in LA and away from my friends, family and home. I go back most weekends so it's not as bad as it seems."

Who are the worst trouble-makers on set?

"Kris and I have a hard time not laughing when we're working together but that's about as far as the trouble goes," Appleby says. "We have a lot of work to do in a short amount of time so all that pranky stuff has to happen on our off hours. And it does!!!"

Any ridiculous hijinks on set?

"Always," Polaha says. "I suppose you'd like me to list a few, like the time Kerr [Smith] set himself on fire just for 'laughs' or like the time when I had to chug a pint of beer for a scene and Austin Basis made them put real beer in my glass. By take 3, I was seeing double. Or perhaps you'd like to hear about Britt [Robertson] spinning like a whirling Dervish after the snack car makes its rounds and she fills up on sugar."

Is shooting easier this year now that you have the first season under your belt? "I think it's a lot easier this year because there isn't that fear of wondering if people are gonna respond to the show or not," Appleby says. "We have a solid grasp on what the show is and how to play within that. Also, we are so comfortable with each other now that the learning curve of how to work with one another is over, which makes everything a lot easier."
