Martina Navratilova and Tony Dovolani

The tennis legend's lovely, if safe, foxtrot was a perfectly respectable debut dance that probably would've ranked scored higher any other season. But she's in a three-way tie at the bottom of the leader board and brings up the rear in our rankings. With the jive next, the 18-time Grand Slam champ is gonna have to show the same attack on the hardwood that she showed on the tennis courts.

Gavin DeGraw and Karina Smirnoff

Might our reigning champ be in danger of an early exit? Karina, who won last season with J.R. Martinez, coached an impossibly awkward Gavin into a slightly less awkward dancer. The musician is admittedly shy, and with such luminous personalities this season, he will have to work on that ASAP.

Sherri Shepherd and Val Chmerkovskiy (tie)

The View chatterbox scored a 23 for her sweet foxtrot, but could her loud mouth and personality doom the pair? We hope not because we could use more clips of her pinching Val's booty! Speaking of Val, he scored higher than big bro Maks for once! Can he make it two weeks in a row?

Jack Wagner and Anna Trebunskaya (tie)

Jack completely sold his delightful foxtrot, nabbing a 23, but failed to stand out for the right reasons (Doing synchronized kicks on the floor? Really?) Plus, we didn't expect any less from a suave soap star doing a ballroom dance. The real test will be the high-kickin' jive this week. At least he already has practice kicking!

Roshon Fegan and Chelsie Hightower (tie)

There's no doubt about it — the kid's got moves. But they're hip-hop moves and unsurprisingly, Len was not feeling their freestyling cha-cha. Can Roshon prove his worth without falling back on what he knows best?

Gladys Knight and Tristan MacManus (tie)

Can we please look like Gladys when we're 67? And shake it as well as she does too? The Empress of Soul shocked and awed with her fun-loving cha-cha, but only ties for eighth in our rankings. Taking nothing away from her performance, the routine itself was pretty basic. Will she be handle tougher stuff Tristan throws at her?

Melissa Gilbert and Maksim Chmerkovskiy

Maks tossed some ambitious cha-cha moves Melissa's way, and while the actress didn't falter with her feet, she was too stiff and hesitant, and ended up tying Martina and Gavin with a 20. Were they just opening-night nerves? Let's hope so.

Donald Driver and Peta Murgatroyd

Yup, it's still true: Football players can dance! Quickie lit up the ballroom with his flashy moves and blinding teeth. He lost a little control at the end, but at least we knew he was into the dance. With more polish and technique, he could go a long way.

Katherine Jenkins and Mark Ballas

The Welsh opera singer, who sang on Season 12, was a virtual unknown coming into the season and now she's No. 4 in our rankings after delivering a lyrical, breathtaking foxtrot. We know she can dance now, but does she have enough fans to carry her to the end?

William Levy and Cheryl Burke

Judging by the earsplitting screams, the Cuban dreamboat has got the fan base, which is surely growing by the second after his sizzling cha-cha. If he could do that with only 10 days of rehearsals (everyone else had three weeks), we can't wait to see what else he has up his sleeve.
11 of 12 Adam Taylor/ABC

Maria Menounos and Derek Hough

Menounos garnered one of the lower scores, a 21, but she takes second place in our rankings. Her cha-cha was wooden and tense, which could've been a result of nerves, since she had to dance first. Once she loosens up, we'll surely be seeing some better dancing and scores.
12 of 12 Adam Taylor/ABC

Jaleel White and Kym Johnson

Let's get this straight: Urkel is clumsy. Jaleel is not. The actor wowed with an elegant, smooth-as-silk foxtrot and topped the leader board (tying Katherine with a 26) and our rankings with 32 percent of the vote. If he keeps this up, Kym could be joining Derek in the three-time winners circle.
