No. 5 (Guys): Rocker David Cook gave a rousing rendition of "All Right Now" last week, and his revelation that he's a "word nerd" who enjoys crossword puzzles endeared him

No. 4 (Girls): Syesha Mercado received criticism from the judges for the gender-flopped version of "Me and Mrs. Jones" she performed, but her vocal skill and charming personality have kept her in the running.

No. 4 (Guys): The biggest rising star among the guys, David Hernandez climbed four spaces in our Power Rankings since last week, thanks to his sizzling performance of "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone."

No. 3 (Girls): Dropping two spots since last week, petite vocal powerhouse Ramiele Malubay - who sang a disco classic for '70s week - may be proving that her strength is ballads rather than upbeat numbers.

No. 3 (Guys): Shy-guy heartthrob Jason Castro chose to sing with his guitar again last week, but his "I Just Want to Be Your Everything" was hardly music to the judges' ears (Simon called it "schmaltzy").

No. 2 (Girls): Carly Smithson, who moved up four spots in our Power Rankings, is proving herself to be the girl to beat; she showed serious Heart with her rendition of "Crazy on You."

No. 1 (Girls): By channeling Carly Simon, Brooke White climbed four spots with her "You're So Vain." Simon was pretty sure the song was about him, and who are we to argue

No. 1 (Guys): With a whopping 63.6 percent of the guys' Power Rankings votes, 17-year-old sweetie pie David Archuleta is definitely the early favorite. His "Imagine" even made Paula cry.
