Aquarius (NBC)

Premieres: Thursday, June 16 at 9/8c

Where We Left Off: Season 1 wrapped up in the spring of 1968. Sam was awarded a medal of valor, but may not get to keep it for long after finding out someone witnessed him killing the two brothers who killed Raymond Novo. After Mary gave birth to a stillborn baby, Sadie stole a newborn from a hospital, which will be passed off as Charlie's son. What's Next: Season 2 kicks off with a two-hour, commercial-free premiere. Showrunner John McNamara has teased that Sam and Charlie will definitely cross paths. If the show decides to follow history accurately, Charlie and his followers may camp out at the home of Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson, and recruit more wayward girls to join their ranks, leading up to their infamous murder spree. Amanda Brooks has been cast as ill-fated actress/murder victim Sharon Tate. On the cops' side, Ken survives the tussle with Hal, but Grace has moved on with Sam, whose dubious medal of valor may prompt a corruption investigation into the LAPD.

Ballers (HBO)

Premieres: Sunday, July 17 at 10/9c

Where We Left Off: Ballers' first season finale could have doubled as a series finale, with all the plots tied up with neat little Entourage-style happy endings: Spencer got promoted to head of Anderson Financial's sports division, then leveraged his new position to get Joe his job back. Ricky and Charles proved themselves at Miami Dolphins training camp. Vernon signed a big contract with the Dallas Cowboys. Everything's hunky-dory.

What's Next: Spencer finds himself going toe-to-toe with Andre (Andy Garcia), a big-time manager who used to be Spencer's advisor and is a big part of the reason why Spencer is in such dire financial straits. Andre will be Spencer's enemy until they kiss and make up, and everyone gets paid and they celebrate by drinking champagne with a gaggle of nameless women, because that's what happens on shows executive-produced by Mark Wahlberg.

Beauty and the Beast (CW)

Where We Left Off: The Department of Homeland Security allowed Cat and Vincent to ride off into the sunset by scrubbing every trace of the Beast military program. The lovebirds tied the knot and went on their honeymoon while everyone else tried to transition into a "normal" life.

What's Next: The peace and quiet is short-lived as Cat and Vincent barely have time to unpack their bags in France when they find out that someone has already uncovered the beast trail and is wreaking havoc in New York City. They're forced to return after one of their own ends up in the crosshairs of a dangerous hunter trying to find Vincent. It turns out someone is after beasts for a terrifying reason, and the hunter is only the first of many threats coming for them. So much for a "normal life."

Mickey was on his way to Nevada, while Bridget -- furious after Ray beat Mr. Donellen after walking in on them together -- decided to run away from home. What's Next: There are no fatalities from the shooting, but there are injuries, including one major one for someone. Alice Sands arc will conclude in the second episode of the seventh and final season, after which longtime fans can expect more lighthearted and "fun" episodes to wrap up the series, showrunner Jan Nash says. Also look for a "big, flashy" 100th episode and Yvette Nicole Brown to guest-star as C.J. Prescott, a postal inspector, in one episode. As for the series finale, Nash has a general idea of what she wants to do -- but that could change. "The best idea wins, so if somebody has a better idea, then that's what we'll do," she says.

Royal Pains (USA)

Elsewhere, Divya decided she wants to go to medical school and accepted Raj's marriage proposal, and Evan and Paige's surrogate decided to keep her baby.

What's Next: The eighth and final season, which picks up several months after the end of Season 7, is all about "family and second chances," executive producer Andrew Lenchewski says. "For Hank, this season [is] really about, is the Hamptons a pit stop in his journey, or is it going to be his final destination? And obviously essential to that is his search for love." Evan and Paige continue trying to have children, while Evan faces some professional crises at the hospital, and Jeremiah has a difficult time re-integrating himself into work after his regression. Also, Divya and Raj are expecting, as she's in the midst of applying to medical schools. "She obviously wants to be a good mother," Lenchewski says. " "Barry finally finds himself holding the scepter, and what he's going to do with that really gets tested with the highest possible stakes," Gordon teases. Chris Noth joins the show as William Cogswell, an American general who returns to Abbudin after Barry assumes the provisional presidency and reunites with former flame Leila.

Where We Left Off: Rachel tried to run away with Adam, but because Quinn told him about Rachel's meltdown in Mexico, Adam rejected Rachel. Chet sabotaged Quinn's deal with the network, so she teamed up with Rachel to sabotage Adam and Anna's big wedding. Upon learning about Rachel's plan to leave with Adam, Jeremy publicly declared that Rachel is a cheater and even told her mother that he thinks she should be institutionalized.

What's Next: Promoted to showrunner, Rachel casts the first black suitor, Darius Beck (B.J. Britt), an NFL star hoping to rehab his public image. But when Chet returns after becoming a men's rights activist, he starts an all-out war with Quinn that has unforeseen consequences for everyone involved. Rachel gets another love interest in the new producer Coleman (Michael Rady), who proves to be an important ally. "She decides to team up with him to fight against Quinn," Britt says. Jay, Madison and Jeremy all return to the set with their own agendas -- Jeremy's seemingly being to humiliate Rachel at every possible turn. Upon waking up from a coma, he discovered the first generation had taken over everything, with the town now fully self-aware of their lives. But the First Generation is far from a friendly bunch as they have strung up corpses over lampposts with signs that simply read, "DO NOT TRY TO LEAVE." A heck of a wake-up call to the town.

What's Next: Jason Patric joins the show as Dr. Theo Yedlin, who is awoken when the First Generation is in desperate need a medical technician. "He's dropped in the middle of somewhere. He doesn't believe where he is," Patric says. Where We Left Off: With Jamie being held at a mysterious fisherman's house with a (mysteriously) full-grown leopard, and no idea of how long she's been there. The mutated animals have taken over and the government is in panic mode trying to stop the crisis.

What's Next: The sophomore season picks up immediately after the conclusion of Season 1, with the team surrounded by a pack of charging wild animals while on their way to rescue Jamie from the fisherman's house where she's being held. Assuming they make it there, the looming question is whether the full-grown leopard could provide the key to a cure for the animal mutation, which moves into Phase 2 this season. The animals start targeting infrastructure around the globe and ramp up environmental events in an attempt to make Earth uninhabitable. New series regulars include Josh Salatin as Logan, a mysterious stranger Jamie meets who may be holding some key information out of her reach; and Alyssa Diaz as Dariela, a member of a military group who discovers a troubling new development in the animal mutation. Joanne Kelly will recur as the deputy secretary of defense, who has a history with Mitch.
