Vanessa Bayer and Sasheer Zamata said goodbye, too
Maura goes on a misguided journey
Sherlock star Martin Freeman took over hosting duties at Saturday Night Live this week, but was not featured in many of the episode's stronger moments. "Weekend Update" was especially on point for the last SNL of 2014, which saw the return of Vanessa Bayer's Jacob the Bar Mitzvah Boy, as well as the introduction of a new character from Cecily Strong: "One-Dimensional Female Character From a Male-Driven Comedy."
It's difficult to find humor in the multitude of sexual assault allegations that have been lobbed at (slash resurfaced against)Bill Cosby this week, but Saturday Night Live managed to get a laugh out of it.
Chris Rock made his return to Saturday Night Live this weekend to host for the first time since 1996, and in turn offered up some good laughs before ultimately settling in for a subpar episode. Once again proving that Rock isn't afraid to tackle subjects most SNL hosts won't, the episode saw him take on the terrorist organization ISIS, but also gave him the space to perform his patented stand-up and maybe also dance to soul music.
