Caroline and Jennifer got, uh, bogged down on The Amazing Race finale when Jen needed three attempts to swim across a freezing, muddy bog in Belfast, Northern Ireland. "That was such a stressful day for us," she tells TVGuide.com. "If I had gotten it right the first time, I would've been OK. But getting in the second time, I just felt claustrophobic." Worse, the country singers got lost afterward and in the end, it wasn't a close finish for the final finale spot at all. Find out how much time they lost, what song they've written for Bates and Anthony and if a flying squirrel really died in Caroline's bra.
Newlyweds Max and Katie had won the past three legs on The Amazing Race 22 and looked like they might make it a fourth straight victory on the final leg. But then came the spy Switchback Roadblock. Despite getting there first, Max had trouble locating his spy and completed the task third, but the two were able to recover for a second-place finish. "It was hard to watch. We loved watching the first half [of the two-hour finale]," he tells TVGuide.com. "I wish we had a week to enjoy that victory instead of just slamming the door on it. But it was fun. We'd been dreading watching D.C. since we did it." Find out how much time they lost at the challenge, if they think of themselves as villains and more.
[SPOILER ALERT: The following story reveals the winners of The Amazing Race 22. Read at your own risk.]
Pam and Winnie were cruising to a second-place finish on The Amazing Race until they ran into some "stubborn asses" — or donkeys. Rather than tough it out, they switched Detours, but messed up twice when they couldn't spot an ostrich cutout on the trail and subsequently got eliminated. "We knew it was over when we got it wrong the second time," Pam tells TVGuide.com. "Everyone has that hope that some other team is behind them or someone got penalized or it's a non-elimination leg, but we knew we were last. We had wasted too much time." Find out how long the whole ordeal took and if they have any regrets.
The Amazing Race mantra is often "never give up," but three teams didn't get the memo on the Season 22 premiere. After hours of searching through 400 sandcastles for a clue to no avail, newlyweds Max and Katie, country singers Caroline and Jennifer, and firefighters Matt and Daniel agreed to quit the Roadblock and take a four-hour penalty so they could move on to the next task and start on even ground to stay in the Race. Unfortunately for the firefighters, it was a bad call, as the next task was to row to the Pit Stop in a tiny Bora Bora canoe called a va'a that could not handle their weight. "The other teams probably didn't weight 100 pounds with both of them in it," Daniel tells TVGuide.com. "It was 600 pounds between me and Matt and a French guy [in the boat with us]." Still, the two insist that they don't regret throwing in the towel.
