How the West Was Won

Three years after `Gunsmoke,' James Arness was back in the saddle as an 1860s pioneer struggling to keep the orphaned family of his dead brother out of harm's way as they journey west from Virginia. `How the West Was Won' was based on the all-star 1962 film and spun off from a 1976 TV-movie titled `The Macahans.'
