We'll get some closure on that cliffhanger
The end of The End of the F***ing World hasn't happened yet, after all.
Netflix's dark teen drama about an alleged sociopath who falls in love and then ends up murdering his girlfriend's attacker has been renewed for another season! The renewal comes eight months after the show first premiered on the streaming service and almost an entire year after its debut on Channel 4 in the UK.
Even though it took forever and a day to get the news, knowing there's another season on the way will be a huge relief for fans who were left wondering whether James (Alex Lawther) survived the first season's chilling cliffhanger. If he didn't survive, what would happen to Alyssa (Jessica Barden), officially surrounded by the cops who had discovered the duo's wide array of crimes? Season 2 should reveal if a happy ending is possible for the two dysfunctional teens, who found an affection for each other even though they found it impossible to hold it for anyone else in their lives.
Netflix Is Coming of Age by Cornering the Market on Coming-of-Age Shows
Perhaps the renewal shouldn't be that big of a surprise: it comes as Netflix continues to beef up its young adult content, both on the film side and the TV side. The End of the F***ing World is also a good comedic complement to Netflix's dark new dramas The Innocents and The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
Season 2 will premiere globally on Netflix, except in the UK, where it will again air on Channel 4, which co-produces the series with Netflix.
