If you've got an appetite for some more morsels of Netflix's Santa Clarita Diet, we have good news. The show will be back with some tasty new episodes this spring.
Netflix has announced Santa Clarita Diet Season 3 will be available for streaming on Friday, March 29, with a teaser that highlights the unusual dynamic of the Hammonds — played by Drew Barrymore and Timothy Olyphant — now that she's among the living dead, and their original wedding vows have been fulfilled ("'til death do us part" and all). As Barrymore's Sheila asks Olyphant's Joel to take her to be his wife "for the next thousand years or so," he doesn't look so thrilled by the offer. Perhaps the sight of her chewing on human arms has given him pause about the possibility of forever?
In addition to those possible marital woes, the Hammonds will be facing a new threat in Season 3, now that those red clams have been dealt with. Not only will they continue to be trailed by Paul (Zachary Knighton) and Marsha (Jee Young Han), the couple who've been shadowing the two throughout Season 2, but Sheila and Joel will also have to deal with Sheriff Anne (Natalie Morales). Anne knows part of what the Hammonds have been up to but believes they're part of a divine cause, thanks to their daughter Abby (Liv Hewson)'s well-timed protest explosion.
Executive producer Victor Fresco previously told TV Guide that it will be "a delicate thing for them to navigate."
"She thinks they're doing God's work because they're killing bad people and she's seen enough weird signs that she thinks it is a miracle," he explained. "She doesn't know that Sheila is eating people so it'll be a tricky thing for the Hammonds to navigate how much they let Anne in their lives."
Santa Clarita Diet Seasons 1 and 2 are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
