Robin Wright is finally speaking up about her former House of Cards co-star Kevin Spacey who was fired from the Netflix drama amid allegations of sexual harassment and misconduct. In an interview withToday, Wright says the crew was "shocked" and "ultimately saddened" by Spacey's dismissal, revealing that she only knew him professionally and never interacted with him in her personal life.

"We were co-workers, really. We never socialized outside of work. [It was a] respectful, professional relationship. He was so great with me. He was never disrespectful to me, so that's my personal experience. That's the only thing that I feel I have the right to talk about," Wright said.

In October, production on House of Cards was suspended when Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp came forward with allegations that Spacey made sexual advances towards him when he was 14 years old. Soon after, several others accused the actor of sexual assault or harassment including Harry Dreyfuss. In December, Netflix revealed that the show would be moving forward without Spacey. Production resumed in January with Wright taking over as the show's sole lead.

"We forged ahead and we were so thankful that we were able to complete the series as planned. The shock was so intense all over the nation for many reasons; many stories, many people. I think that everybody felt that it was respectful to back off," added Wright. She also noted that she hasn't "heard from him and I don't even know how to reach him."

While it's unclear how the show will write off Frank Underwood, a Fourth of July teaser revealed that Claire would take over as President of the United States.

House of Cards is expected to return with the show's final eight episodes this fall on Netflix.
