Riverdale's serial killer, The Black Hood, often left no ambiguity when it came to his victims' fates -- with one major exception. Chic (Hart Denton), who successfully convinced the Coopers he was their long lost son for most of the sophomore season, was last seen running from the Hood and his axe. But did he actually manage to escape?

"Well, we haven't seen his body on Dr. Curdle's slab, have we?" executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa teases. "It feels like until you see that body in a body bag on Dr. Curdle's slab in Riverdale, anything could happen."

A New-ish CW: Breaking Down the Network's Fall Schedule

Anything, meaning that Chic could very well return for Season 3 to continue wrecking havoc on the Coopers' lives.

"Never say never," Aguirre-Sacasa says. "Usually if someone's not dead, they eventually find their way back to Riverdale one way or the other."

Count that as another loose end the core four are going to have to clean up when we dig into Season 3. Considering that Betty was the one to lead Chic to a potentially violent death, we can bet he'll return bent on revenge.

Riverdale returns Wednesdays this fall on The CW.
