Proven Innocent just grabbed a major adversary for their do-good lawyers.

The new Fox drama has added Kelsey Grammer to the cast as a "tough as nails" State's Attourney who will go up against Madeline Scott (Rachelle Lefevre) and Easy Bordeau (Russell Hornsby) as they try and exonerate criminals they believe were wrongly convicted.

The legal drama comes from Empire co-creator Danny Strong and Four Brothers writer David Elliot and follows Scott, who was wrongfully convicted at age 18 with her brother Levi (Riley Smith) of murder. DNA evidence helped her get out of jail and now she's using her sensational trial celebrity to help those in her previous situation.

Proven Innocent is Grammer's first broadcast series -- outside of a one episode pit stop on Modern Family -- since the short-lived sitcom Parnters on CBS in 2014. The Frasier actor teamed up with Amazon last year for the glitzy The Last Tycoon, which also got the axe after one season as Amazon made the switch towards more genre and sci-fi content.

Proven Innocent premieres this fall on Fox.
