Jeremy Jordan Says Goodbye to Supergirl... For Now
"Your favorite little cardigan wearing hobbit has plenty of stories left to tell."
Supergirl's Season 3 finale bid farewell to two huge members of the cast as Mon-El (Chris Wood) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan) left National City to travel to the future.
Wood's exit came as a surprise to many considering he's been Kara's main love interest for the past two years, but we did get a heads up about Winn's departure before the season finale aired. Supergirl's showrunners announced his exit last week, reassuring fans that we wouldn't be saying goodbye to Winn forever, a sentiment Jordan reiterated Tuesday morning on Instagram.
"As many of you have heard by now, Winn will no longer be a series regular on Supergirl," Jordan wrote. "However, this is not a goodbye. Although you may not see him puttering around the DEO every week, I love everyone in National City too much to stay away forever. Winn WILL return in Season 4... Your favorite little cardigan wearing hobbit has plenty of stories left to tell."
While we're all obviously relieved we haven't seen the last of Winn, it's still devastating and more than a little confusing to see him go. Jordan detailed why he's taking a step back from Supergirl in his post, explaining that he's simply ready for a new stage in his career.
Supergirl Season 3 Finale: A Major Character Exits
"Lately, my gut has been telling me that I'm once again ready to begin a new chapter in my life... and if I've learned anything, it's that you gotta listen to your gut," he wrote. "So I want to thank everyone behind the scenes at Supergirl for understanding it was time to return home...to spend time with my wife and friends, and focus on crafting the next stage of my career."
Anyone familiar with Jordan's work knows he's got the voice of an angel and some serious showmanship in his repertoire, so we wouldn't be all that surprised to see him back on Broadway or in the next big movie musical for his next project.
Supergirl fans have spent all morning blowing up his Instagram comments with well-wishes and hopes for his return in Season 4, whenever that may be.
Here's hoping he comes back from the future with some snazzy, new facial hair like Mon-El did!
Supergirl will return Sunday nights this fall at 8/7c on the CW.
