American Horror Story: 1984 is set to be the FX anthology's shortest season yet. TV Guide can confirm that the current season will conclude with the ninth episode, airing on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 10/9c.

1984 was originally presumed to be 10 episodes, which would have made it equal in length to Roanoke (Season 6) and Apocalypse (Season 8). The first five seasons of American Horror Story were either 12 or 13 episodes, while Cult (Season 7) was 11.

The news of the abbreviated season is likely bittersweet to many American Horror Story fans.
