Q: I am extremely happy that ABC has decided to put Women's Murder Club back on this season. I'm not really happy about the time slot, but I can always record SVU. Club has the best writing of all the new shows this past season, the chemistry is great and I'm just a huge Angie Harmon fan. Will ABC be picking it up for next season? A: Depends on how these next three episodes do, creatively as well as in the ratings. The experiment starts this Tuesday at 10 pm/ET ? unfortunately, it's going ... read more
  • ABC Changes: Murder In, Trees Out | Roush Dispatch | 3/31/2008
Some head-scratching is in order upon looking at ABC's latest round of midseason shuffling. On one hand, I get why the network would try to give Women’s Murder Club some exposure on a night that isn’t Friday. But in announcing its return with three new episodes on Tuesdays at 10 pm/ET, starting April 29, you can’t help but wonder if the show is being given a favor after all. This scheduling puts it head-to-head against NBC’s powerful Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,... read more
  • Murder Club Kills Men in Trees' Momentum | Today's News: Our Take | 3/31/2008
ABC has set an April 29 return date for Women's Murder Club, which has three fresh episodes to burn off. WMC's Tuesday-at-10 time slot effectively bumps Boston Legal to Wednesdays at 10 as of April 30, which in turn trims Men in Trees from the network's schedule for several weeks. Trees is expected to resume its oft-resuming second season on Wednesday, May 28.What's your take? The same sad story for Trees, or did it not have any "momentum" to lose?Check out our Returning Favorites guide for... read more
  • Murder Club Scoop: Harmon Gets a Major Dad | Ausiello Report | 3/20/2008
Fallen Jericho patriarch Gerald McRaney has been cast as the estranged pop of Angie Harmon's Lindsay on Women's Murder Club, sources confirm to me exclusively. Dad is described as a dirty ex-cop who has few friends on the force — and that includes his daughter. The two have been estranged for seven years, and his mere presence gives her the creeps. She even refuses to call him "Dad," which is never a good thing (unless you're a Simpson). McRaney's onboard for one of this season's three... read more

Returns: Tuesday, April 29, at 10 pm/ET (ABC)Number of new episodes: 3Where we left off: The Kiss-Me-Not killer set his sights on Det. Lindsay Boxer (Angie Harmon), who got protection from a hunky FBI profiler (Stargate Atlantis' Joe Flanigan), while ADA Jill Bernhardt (Laura Harris) was ditched by her boyfriend for cheating. What's next: In an effort to save the faltering series, the network brought in veteran producer Robert Nathan (Law & Order) to do some tweaking. "The crime stories will... read more

Q: Thanks for the scoop about the awesome Joel Gretsch from The 4400 playing Angie Harmon's love interest on Women's Murder Club. Anything else you can share about this underrated show? A: In addition to a boyfriend, Harmon's Lindsay is also getting a dad, and an estranged one at that. Apparently father (a former cop) and daughter haven't spoken in seven years. read more
  • Murder Club Exclusive: Harmon Falls for 4400 Hero | Ausiello Report | 3/17/2008
The 4400's Joel Gretsch has been tapped to play Angie Harmon's new love interest on Women's Murder Club, sources confirm to me exclusively. His character, a charming hotel builder, bumps into Lindsay at the Hall of Justice and, as you might've guessed, it's lust at first sight. As you also might've guessed, he's harboring a humdinger of a secret, the specifics of which I'll get into in this week's Ausiello Report vodcast. Look for that tomorrow at around 10 am/ET.Gretsch is slated to appear in... read more

Q: I'm dying for more Dollhouse scoop! BTW, I loved the story you and Ben Katner did pitching actors for the show. A: I'll be curious to see if Joss takes any of our suggestions. I'm sure it's a long shot, especially in light of what he told me back in November when Dollhouse was just announced. "My first instinct is to probably [cast] new people [in Dollhouse], because I'm already reuniting with Eliza and I don't want it to seem like a house party," he said. "I want to make sure people get a... read more

Q: Thanks for the scoop on Women's Murder Club returning for three episodes this season. What are you hearing about new show-runner Robert Nathan? Is he going to make any drastic changes? A: As I reported over the weekend, there are no immediate plans to overhaul the series. And everything I'm hearing about new boss Nathan is very positive. Not only is he said to be one of the nicest guys in the biz, but he is ridiculously talented. " He's a brilliant writer," enthuses a former colleague. "He... read more
  • Breaking: Murder Club to Reopen in April | Ausiello Report | 2/23/2008
Talk about dodging a bullet. Women's Murder Club, which has been hovering near death for the past two weeks, has succeeded in finding a new boss and will return to ABC's sked in late April, a show spokesperson confirms. Law & Order vet Robert Nathan has come onboard as show-runner and will oversee production of this season's final three episodes. Meanwhile, there was some talk that 20th Century Fox, the studio behind Murder Club, was planning to retool the show as an Angie Harmon vehicle,... read more
  • Scoop! Women's Murder Club Not Dead Yet! | Ausiello Report | 2/21/2008
Women's Murder Club is showing signs of life!According to multiple sources, the ABC drama could return later this season with as many as three additional episodes if — and this is a big if — a new show-runner can be found in the next few days. Coincidentally, just hours ago, a Murder Club staffer e-mailed to tell me that, contrary to my report in this week's Ask Ausiello, the show's sets have not been struck. But in my defense, they almost were. "The crew started tearing down the sets... read more

Q: Please don't let them cancel Women's Murder Club. What's the latest on its renewal chances? A: On the plus side, I hear ABC is committed to trying to make the show work ? hence the firing of three exec producers last week. On the downside, the sets have been dismantled, which is always an ominous sign. According to one Clubgoer, the trick now is finding a show-runner who gets the series and sees eye to eye with creator/novelist James Patterson. And per my source, "Patterson isn't on the ... read more
  • Murder Club Snuffs Creators; Big Shots Muzzled? | Today's News: Our Take | 2/13/2008
The end of the strike doesn't mean good news for everyone, mind you. ABC's Women's Murder Club, whose fate seems super-iffy, has let go of three executive producers, including co-creators/co-showrunner Elizabeth Craft — says the Reporter. (Ausiello might want to revisit that "less than 0.015 percent chance of survival" mentioned in today's fresh AA.)Another of the net's freshman offerings, Big Shots, is "not expected to continue," says the trade. But, reports my dream, Charisma is being... read more

Q: I'm almost afraid to ask: What's happening to our beloved Angie Harmon and Women's Murder Club? A: It changes from minute to minute, so keep close tabs on my Strike Recovery Chart for the latest. As of 10 seconds ago, there was less than a one percent chance of Club producing additional episodes this season. However, it remains a contender for the fall. An unlikely contender, but a contender nonetheless. OMG, it just changed again! That one percent has just been downgraded to .015 percent!... read more
  • More Studios Ax Deals, Take ABC's Lead | WGA Post-Strike Watch: News About Returning Shows | 1/15/2008
Four TV studios, including Warner Bros. TV, CBS Paramount Network TV, 20th Century Fox TV and Universal Media Studios have axed deals with producers and writers on their rosters, according to Variety. The networks cite the effects of the WGA strike as the catalyst. Their decisions almost immediately follow a similar move by ABC Studios on Friday, which some sources said also initiated some larger-scale trimming of staff. While none of the numbers are definitive, CBS Paramount has cut more than... read more

On tonight's Women's Murder Club (9 pm/ET, ABC), Lindsay faces a painful reality: Her ex-husband Tom is moving on ? big time! ? as he and fiancée Heather (Ever Carradine) prepare to say "I do." "Lindsay has always thought of [Tom] as kind of belonging to her. Even though they're divorced, she still thinks of him as hers," explains executive producer Sarah Fain. "This is the episode where he suddenly belongs to someone else." Will Lindsay be among the well-wishers in attendance? "She's not ... read more
