In the Season 2 finale, Whitney catches sight of her psychiatrist frantically eating a birthday cake by herself. Thinking the shrink has issues, Whitney sets out to confront her. Meanwhile, R.J. plays matchmaker for Mark, a development that impacts Roxanne.
Lily is in need of a male pal, so Whitney implores Alex to socialize with her. A reluctant Alex does so, resulting in a surprise connection between the two. Elsewhere, Mark and R.J. try to bring excitement to the bar by launching a darts contest.

Alex and Whitney celebrate their honeymoon at a lake house owned by Alex's parents. Yet they're unexpectedly greeted there by Alex's father, who reveals flaws in his seemingly perfect marriage. Also: The gang discovers Alex and Whitney's bizarre habits while staying at their abode.
Alex pines for time by himself, so he lies to Whitney about leaving to attend a tech seminar. When Whitney discovers the truth, she puts both of them in couple's counseling. Elsewhere, R.J.'s 8-year-old niece grows fond of Roxanne, to Lily's surprise.
Alex and Whitney decide to admit to past lies they've told each other; Lily discloses too much information about Whitney's past; Mark hires a new bartender who draws lusty attention from Roxanne and Lily.
Season 2 opens with Whitney and Alex celebrating their unofficial wedding day. Whitney's mother arrives but then abruptly departs, leaving Whitney in tears. Meanwhile, Lily and Roxanne butt heads trying to purchase the perfect wedding gift for Whitney.
