The fourth season of Weeds just ended, but Mary-Louise Parker is already thinking about next season. "I want it to get ugly [between Nancy and Esteban]," the actress tells our own Erin Fox. So does she know what's going to happen? Not exactly. "I just like the surprises. [Creator] Jenji [Kohan] is so amazing and she always surprises me and I love everything that she gives me," Parker says. Check out the video for more from our favorite drug-dealing housewife, including Parker's take on Nancy's... read more be the first to leave a comment
  • I am surprised to read that ... | Matt Roush | 9/19/2008
Question: I am surprised to read that you are still enamored with Weeds. To use one of your expressions, I divorced it about 8 episodes into this season, when there was nothing resembling any sort of reality on the show. What was initially a means to an end has turned into Nancy now routinely cavorting with major drug dealers, sleeping with corrupt politicians and barely caring what her kids are doing. I also thought there were some episodes where she was frighteningly cruel, like when she kept... read more

Every Wednesday, senior editors Matt Webb Mitovich and Mickey O'Connor answer your questions! In what capacity we will be seeing Desmond and his constant, Penny, next season on Lost? Any word on that? – MajaMatt: Maja, this is an excellent question. I even rewatched the season finale to confirm my own POV: "Why would we ever see Dez again?" I mean, he and Penny reconnected just before sendind the Oceanic Six on their (actually not-so-)merry way. However... I have it on good authority that... read more
  • Broadway Plucks Mary-Louise Parker from Weeds | Today's News: Our Take | 8/12/2008
Weeds star Mary-Louise Parker already treads on dangerous territory as the pot-growing Nancy Botwin. This winter, she'll be taking on another edgy role as Hedda Gabler in a Broadway revival of Henrik Ibsen's classic play. Starting January 25, Parker will be starring in the new production from the Roundabout Theater Company, the AP reports. While Parker has become known for her turn on Weeds — which won her an Emmy nomination this year and a past Golden Globe — she's no stranger to the... read more

  • Which Olsen Twin Is on Who, and Why? | Today's News: Our Take | 6/24/2008
Having (re-)proven herself last season on Weeds to be a bubbly little actress when she can tear herself away from the party/swarthy guy circuit, Mary-Kate Olsen next will guest-star on ABC's Samantha Who?Appearing in one of Season 2's early episodes, MKO will play a self-destructive bad girl who reminds Samantha of her younger self. Another week, and another fine installment of the rebooted Weeds. Let's get on to the recap!Guillermo sent his burgeoning apprentice, Nancy, to Tijuana to test her skills as a drug smuggler. Nancy does not realize the extent of the Guillermo's manipulation, as she is blinded by the $10,000 that he's seductively waving in front of her wagging eyes. • Ratings: Weeds Enjoys a New High | Today's News: Our Take | 6/17/2008
See, I told you it was good stuff. Monday night's Season 4 Weeds premiere delivered 1.35 million total viewers — a 64 percent larger audience than the previous season opener — and in turn gave Showtime it's highest rated telecast ever (or at least since 2004, when the ratings for SHO1 started getting broken down). Leading out of Weeds, The Secret Diary of a Call Girl delivered Showtime's most-watched series debut: 949,000 viewers. — Matt MitovichRelated:• Cheers &... read more
  • Cheers: Hooked on Weeds | Cheers & Jeers | 6/17/2008
Cheers to Weeds for scoring the summer's coolest guest star: Albert Brooks. Showtime's pot-com lost its way last season, but by making a run for the Mexican border — and casting one of the funniest people alive as Mary-Louise Parker's estranged ex-father-in-law — it's gotten back on track. With his perfectly deadpan delivery, Brooks fits right in as Len, a gambling addict who takes in drug dealer Parker's on-the-lam family, despite the fact that he's still never forgiven her for not... read more
  • 'Mother Thinks the Birds Are After Her' | TV Show Recaps | 6/17/2008
The Fourth-Season Premiere of Weeds represented a successful reinvention of its original formula. Season-Three's episodes were chaotic, often appearing directionless as its cast walked through countless absurd storylines. Characters such as Conrad, Heylia, and Vaneeta grew stale as their actions became increasingly forced. In response to its mundane Third-Season plotlines, the brilliant creators of Weeds puff-puff-passed on rehashing the old by taking the bold move of entering the creative... read more
  • Weeds Returns for Season 4 | Today's News: Our Take | 6/16/2008
Nancy really has been quite the lucky drug-dealing soccer mom. She (barely) escaped being busted and having the barrel of a gun pointed at her on more than one occasion. And when we left off last season, fires tore through Agrestic, destroying her home and evidence of her illegal means of income. Now Nance is officially packing up and hitting the road. Where to? Guess you'll have to wait 'til tonight to find out. Here's a peek to tide you over until then. read more

To celebrate the return of Weeds (Mondays at 10 pm/ET, Showtime), we sat down with  Mary-Louise Parker and Elizabeth Perkins to discuss getting naked, kissing Albert Brooks and what to expect in the  trippy new season. TV Guide: What are Mary-Louise and Elizabeth like versus your ever-battling characters, pot-dealing Nancy and her frenemy, Celia?Mary-Louise Parker: Well, unlike our characters, I want time with Elizabeth. I don't know what the similarities between Celia and Nancy are,... read more

  • Exclusive: Lost Lovely Is Weeds' Mrs. Robinson | Today's News: Our Take | 5/20/2008
No, you're not high — at least you're not just high. My Weeds mole tells me that the Showtime hit is about to fulfill millions of guys' MILF fantasies by casting knockout Julie Bowen (Lost, Boston Legal, Ed) as a cradle-robbing single mom who "befriends" Nancy's nubile son, Silas.Although a rep for the cabler was unavailable for comment — put down that blunt already! — I trust my source, who says that at first Bowen's character and the strapping 17-year-old are just pals.... read more
