In the wake of Pilar's murder, Nancy and her boys are on the lam as the sixth season begins. Meanwhile, Andy wrestles with whether or not to take on "the antiabortionist with a crossbow" who is holding Audra hostage at the house in Ren Mar.
Nancy decides to head north to Canada, and Andy is charged with obtaining fake IDs while Silas wonders if he wants to live a life on the run. Meanwhile, Esteban is questioned by authorities about Pilar's murder.
With the Botwins keeping things low-key while on the run in Washington, Nancy, Andy and Silas take under-the-table jobs at a tony Seattle hotel. In an attempt to get back into the canna-biz, Nancy makes a connection with a no-nonsense supplier (Linda Hamilton). Meanwhile, killer-on-the-loose Shane babysits Stevie, and Doug heads back to Ren Mar and a surprise welcoming committee.
Nancy recruits a high-level hotel employee to help her move hash among the guests, as dishwasher Andy is cleaning up at his new job and bellboy Silas finds himself really hopping. Meanwhile, Shane is welcomed into a mommy support group after concocting a far-fetched yarn about Stevie's parentage, and Cesar and Ignacio grill Doug about Nancy's whereabouts.
To retrieve her kidnapped son, Nancy has a showdown with Cesar in a Skee-Ball museum. Meanwhile, Andy and Silas anxiously await word at a nearby diner and contemplate offering her assistance, not knowing that Shane and Doug are currently under Ignacio's watchful eye at the same eatery.
After way too many incidents of gunplay, the Botwins and Doug seek some downtime at a Montana fair, where Nancy and Shane create a scene in line for the roller coaster, and Andy enters an unusual eating contest.
Nancy and the gang relocate to her old stamping grounds, where she reconnects with an old chum (Richard Dreyfuss), while Silas and Shane try to dig up dirt on their mother's mysterious past. Meanwhile, Doug and Andy search for someone who can forge a passport.
Nancy encounters a number of people from her past as she scrambles for a way to get her family out of the country; Silas tries to wrap his head around the possibility that Lars may be his father; Warren (Richard Dreyfuss) appears to go off the deep end; and Doug is frustrated by his inability to score a phony passport.
While the rest of the family try to arrange for passports for their escape to Europe, Nancy and Vaughn have an intense heart-to-heart. Meanwhile, Doug puts his freedom on the line when he returns to Agrestic for some important paperwork.
The sixth-season finale finds the Botwins rushing to the airport for a trip out of the country, but not before Nancy wrestles with life-altering decisions, and Andy looks to soothe an unsettled Warren (Richard Dreyfuss) and Shane, while Silas contemplates remaining behind with Lars.
