This drama has the distinction of being a spin-off from a spin-off (NCIS, which had its start in JAG), but that's not the only intriguing thing about it. Topping the list would be the pairing of LL Cool J and Chris O'Donnell, who team up as undercover agents with the NCIS Office of Special Projects in Los Angeles. In the two-part NCIS episode that introduced the characters, agent G. Callen (O'Donnell) was shot at the end. In the series opener, he returns to work four months later and joins the team on a kidnapping case.

Melissa's first "real" date turned out to be her last one with Luke, and with potty-mouthed Lauren getting the boot as well, our hefty hunk is now down to his "sexy six." This installment features a day at the beach, plus some dancing and (this being a reality contest) plenty of wine drinking, but the ring ceremony that follows won't exactly be a day at the beach for two of the gals. The promo seems to be promising agita involving Mandy, Kristian and Tali, but we shall see.

Jada Pinkett Smith's hospital drama gets a healthy dose of guest stars tonight, with medical-show vet Judy Reyes (Scrubs), Reid Scott (My Boys) and Sarah Lancaster (so solid as an exasperated sibling in Chuck) checking in. As for noble nurse Christina Hawthorne, she cares for a woman who was possibly abused by her boyfriend — but surprising details soon emerge in the case. In other medical cases, Bobbie treats a bigot suffering from abdominal pains, and Ray gears up to assist a biker facing possible paralysis after a motorcycle accident.

TIM: How about some insight into new series regular Eddie Cibrian's arrival? We haven't heard much about him lately. Cibrian's Jesse Cardoza, a transfer from Los Angeles, gets taken hostage on his very first day. During the crisis, he performs a heroic deed that requires him to take off his shirt, as heroic deeds often do. But Cardoza's first day won't come until Season 8's second episode: The Sept. 21 season premiere will flash back to 1997, when we'll learn about his past connection to Horatio.

Think of ABC's The Bachelor — only more so. You got it, romance fans: a dating show for the rest of us, at least those of us who think twice before getting into a bathing suit. Bachelor impresario Mike Fleiss is behind the series, and the bachelor who'll be looking for more to love, Luke Conley, did play football — on the offensive line — before going into real estate. And according to the 2005 Allan Hancock College Bulldogs 2005 roster, he tipped the scales at 270 lbs. Plus-size model Emme is the host.
