The Vampire Diaries Episode Recap: "Smells Like Teen Spirit" Season 3, Episode 6

School is back in session on The Vampire Diaries and shockingly it's been just a year in Mystic Falls time. Tyler is taking advantage of his hybridness, Caroline has added cheerleader to her vampire Barbie title, Elena is being followed by Stefan, and Matt makes an almost deadly decision. Here are the top moments from the episode.

Matt makes another questionable decision
Can I get a collective, "Poor Matt"? The guy just wants to be with family, but of course nothing comes easily. When Vicki tells him that there's a way for her to come back he clearly listens. So he follows her directions, cuts his hand, says a little spell, and poof she's back. The problem is, though, that she now needs to restore the balance that Klaus has put off-kilter with his hybrids. But it's not by killing Tyler; she needs to kill Elena.

Elena is a fun drunk
Elena is having trouble escaping from Stefan's watch so she and Alaric hatch a plan to capture him. Elena boozes up, lightens up, and passes out on the bleachers where Stefan finds her. Alaric then sneaks up behind him and shoots him.

Vicki is evil
Ghostly Vicki is way better than back-to-life Vicki. Immediately she makes it her mission to kill Elena and traps her in a burning car, along with Stefan. While the two are trying to get out, with the help of Alaric, Bonnie, meanwhile, is helping Matt reverse the spell that brought her back. Simultaneously the spell works, Matt says his tearful goodbye to his sister, and the two escape from the burning car.

Can Delena hook up already?
You can really cut the sexual tension between the two with a knife. First, Damon wraps his arms around Elena to "demonstrate" where to strike a vampire, and then he cleans the wounds on her face. Too bad they're interrupted by Stefan who asks her why she didn't let him die in the fire. "I still have hope. I know who you really are. I'm not giving up," she says. His response? "Elena, do you have any idea how pathetic that makes you?" Mean! She then says, "No, it makes me strong" before staking him.

Katherine is screwed
Katherine is by Mikael's side and finally gets him to wake up. He tells her that he does, in fact, now how to kill Klaus so she lets him out of the restraints in his tomb. But she trusted the stranger too soon, because he immediately launches for her neck and starts to feed.

Jeremy is confused
While Bonnie is dodging Jeremy's calls, Anna is questioning why he's still thinking of her enough that she can appear in front of him. "I don't think I can stop thinking about you," he tells Anna, and when she reciprocates the feelings, the two grab hands. But it's the fact that they can feel each other that shocks them. Did Vicki's death somehow cause her to return?

Mason is back!
Although there were rumors that Taylor Kinney was seen around Atlanta, it was still shocking to see the werewolf reappear. How is he back and what is his mission?Comment on this week's episode below.
