Reaper's Ray Wise Raises Hell in Series' Return

Ray Wise has a legendary gift for diabolical roles — he played the character, after all, who committed perhaps the most famous murder in television history. Wise is marking his 40th year since his first film — Dare the Devil — by continuing his turn as The Devil himself in the second season of the CW's Reaper (premiering Tuesday at 8 pm/ET).  read full article

What JumpTheShark.com's Erin Is Watching

As part of TVGuide.com's Strike Survival Guide, we've asked our staff of... staffers to tell you how they are biding their time in these TV-anemic times. Hi, my name is Erin, and I'm a TV addict. (This is where you say, "Hi Erin," as you nervously look around at the other TV addicts.) The WGA strike isn't freaking me out at all, because now I have time to watch all of the shows on DVD that I've been missing for one reason or another. I'm not into reality programming at all, except for American Idol, Ace of Cakes and So You Think You Can Dance. But these days, only Idol is around to console me during this long and sad strike. So, it's back to my DVD sets, to enjoy The Sopranos all the way through, Arrested Development for laughs, Moonlight (so the vampire fans don't stalk me), South Park (to get through gym workouts with a smile on my face and less fat on my ass. Don't you dare call me Cartman), and Twin Peaks, to expand my TV history knowledge. (Plus, David Duchovny in drag? Gotta l... read more

Young Indiana Jones, Old Variety Shows and Twin Freaks...awwww yeah!

Still feeling grateful folks. I can’t help it, it’s this month. Ya got Thanksgiving coming up, the weather’s finally changing (although this Philly humidity is total bullshizz) and the DVD coffers are filled to the rim with causes for celebration these days. And with this TV writers’ strike shaping up to suck long and big, having a few great DVDs to keep your flat-screen toasty is never a bad thing. Especially if the DVDs themselves are bad-ass weirdness like this week’s basket of goodies.First up, and huge props to the geniuses (geniui?) at Paramount Home Video, is Twin Peaks: The Definitive Gold Box Edition. Oh, holy Log Lady, is this set stellar! Not only package-wise, but also in what's going on inside the sleek box. 10 discs, including the pilot that was woefully absent from the original first-season set, and oodles of extras on the making of the show that confused so many of us between 1990 and ’91. Trust me, as soon as you see poor plastic-wrapped... read more

Premise: A surreal cult favorite about the investigation into the murder of a high-school homecoming queen in a Pacific Northwest lumber town. Cocreated by filmmaker David Lynch, who also directed two episodes, the drama was a mysterious and mystical (when it wasn't merely murky) excursion into the dark side of human nature, rife with sex, violence, dream sequences and a gallery of bizarre characters. It was risky and provocative, but not everyone's cup of damn fine coffee and it was gone in a year.
